St Andrews30th November 2022Today at the R&A World Golf Museum The Dogs were unleashed in St Andrews, as “Scotties by the Sea” A Wild in Art Sculpture Trail was announced for September 2023.

BID St Andrews is delighted to officially announce the launch of “Scotties by the Sea” an exciting public art sculpture trail due to launch in September next year.

The event will celebrate all the vibrancy and creativity that Northeast Fife has to offer, as well as showcasing a spectacular variety of art talent across St Andrews and the Northeast Fife Coastal Communities.

Scotties by the Sea will see BID St Andrews team up with event experts Wild in Art, who have been delivering world class public art events across the globe for over ten years.

30 Giant Scottie sculptures will bring colour and joy to the streets, parks and open spaces across St Andrews and the Northeast Fife Coastal Communities for ten weeks before being auctioned off to raise funds for Maggie’s Cancer Care.

Decorated by local and national artists, designers and illustrators, the Scotties will form an ‘unforgettable’ trail of colourful sculptures for residents and visitors to discover and enjoy. The free public art event is set to benefit the whole community, and bring a much needed boost to the local economy, with hundreds of thousands of people expected to join in the fun.

Louise A Fraser, Chair, BID St Andrews said,

“We are so excited to be working with Wild in Art to bring this trail to St Andrews & the wider Northeast Fife Coastal Communities. The trail will bring tourism and economic benefits to the region, put smiles on people’s faces, promote wellbeing and exploration and raise vital funds for Maggie’s Cancer Care.

“This is the largest event we have ever held. We hope that the businesses and local community will join us in the delivery of what I’m sure will be a spectacular event, and that they enjoy seeing these incredible Scottie sculptures unleashed on our wonderful coastline.

Businesses are already lining up to leave their pawprints in the sand with Scotties by the Sea. The Courier and Kingdom FM signing up as the event’s Official Media Partners and Stagecoach, announced today as the first Giant Scottie Sculpture Sponsor, are ready to unleash the dogs on their “Catch the Coach” routes connecting St Andrews all the way down the East Neuk. Lee Skinner, Operations Manager, Stagecoach said “It’s a fantastic opportunity for Stagecoach to engage with other local business to raise awareness and support for Maggie’s and the outstanding contribution they make to the lives of people suffering from cancer. Scotties by the sea will also help showcase local business in St Andrews and the surrounding areas”
